This position is responsible for reviewing and proposing the redesign of physician documentation and billing workflows in a multi-specialty academic faculty practice environment. Inclusive in this effort is the capture of necessary quality metrics in a claims-based quality reporting environment. All education, training, implementation and on-going functional improvements for the Epic EMR within CMU Health at the faculty and staff levels are responsibilities of this position. .


  • Conducts general or specialized educational sessions for employees, providers and application super-users related to new and existing systems/processes, primarily EMR-related.
  • Conduct individualized training for all new employees as well as continuous education to ensure a high-level of user competency with the EMR; administers periodic proficiency assessments of end users
  • Provides support on application issues to ensure issues and questions are resolved appropriately and in a timely manner through careful analysis of workflows, end-user needs and standardized application approaches across the organization
  • Responsible for analyzing, designing, building, testing and implementing technical and workflow-based solutions for new and existing electronic health record projects/initiatives and ongoing support service requests.
  • Coordinate closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Director of Operations and Director of Revenue Cycle to ensure high priority deficiencies and issues are resolved quickly
  • Collects feedback from end users and communicates to appropriate individuals
  • Assists with the definition and rollout of system enhancements and changes; coordinates closely with the Corporate Data Manager and appropriate Covenant HealthCare IT personnel
  • Ensures that system security and integrity is maintained at all times
  • Troubleshoots problems or questions from end users
  • Prioritizes issues and workload effectively; effectively answers questions and/or concerns regarding the system in a positive fashion
  • Maintains the mindset of the ‘end user as a customer’ and always aims to achieve timely and satisfactory resolution of EMR-related issues and concerns
  • Works independently, seeks guidance as necessary
  • Completes special projects and other duties as needed



    • Bachelor’s degree required in related field
    • Three-five years of knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training and experience preferably in a multi-specialty physician practice, MSO or ACO.
    • High degree of technical expertise in physician-based EMR design and workflows , preferably Epic
    • Epic certification required within first 90 days of employment or based on first available Epic training courses
    • Strong interpersonal skills
