  • Overview

    The Human Resources Director is responsible for consulting and advising senior-level management on HR related issues within the organization. The Director coordinates and facilitates day-to-day human resources activities for CMU Partners campuses. In addition to daily, hands-on HR responsibilities, the Human Resources Director will also lead the Human Resources team in the development of new programs, and process improvement for Human Resources functions. Leadership and fiscal responsibility for HR, CME, and Knowledge Services departments.


    1. Serves as the senior-staff member in the department of human resources, and provides management oversight of all HR, CME, and Knowledge Services staff. Admin Team member.
    2. Provide an advocacy/consulting role for employees and managers in the management of employee relations issues, and works with internal/external counsel when appropriate.
    3. Overall responsibility for organizational HR policy and program formation and interpretation
    4. Responsible for management of overall compensation structure, including the continuous collection and review of market competitive compensation data and practices.
    5. Directs all performance management efforts including annual staff evaluations and leadership 360 degree feedback process.
    6. Overall responsibility for the administration of benefits plans to include health, EAP, voluntary benefits programs, and retirement programs. Plan administrator for retirement programs.
    7. Develop, administer and monitor LOA program (including FMLA, unpaid leaves, workers compensation, accident/incidents, wellness and ergonomic issues). Facilitates manager training and employee communications to enhance the understanding of LOA policies and programs.
    8. Serve as HR subject matter expert regarding development, administration and maintenance of records of various human resources-related policies/programs/initiatives impacted by regulatory and accrediting bodies (ACGME, ACCME, etc).
    9. Directs on-boarding/off-boarding for residents, faculty and staff.
    10. In conjunction with outside counsel, directs all immigration and visa processes.
    11. Leads all faculty recruitment efforts, including fair market valuation and contract development
    12. Supervises and guides search committees through the recruitment process; reviews/approves draft documents such as position announcements, interview questions, committee recommendations and justification documentation
    13. Completes salary recommendations for candidates, following appropriate CMU Partners policy, in consultation with labor market information and internal equity considerations.
    14. In collaboration with Hiring Managers and HR Coordinator, reviews/approves offers of employment to recommended candidates
    15. Develop, facilitate, and deliver management training and other employee workshops and classes.
    16. Data Generation:
      1. Conducts research on related subjects, and compiles and analyzes data
      2. Coordinate and compile monthly statistical reporting.
      3. Generate management information reports from HRIS as requested.
      4. Provides ad hoc human capital reports to Executive Director as requested.
    17. Directs organizational cost savings initiatives related to health plans, retirement plans, and organizational restructuring.
    18. Develops and oversees organizational retention strategies for learners, faculty and staff.
    19. Promote HR process standardization and process improvement.
    20. Serves on various committees as assigned.
    21. Other duties as assigned.


    1. Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
    2. At least five years of progressively responsible HR leadership experience.
    3. Strong knowledge and applicability of laws and regulations related to HR, including EEO, ADA, ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, and FLSA/wage and hour.
    4. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    5. Demonstrated organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
    6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    7. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
    8. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) and project a positive image.
    9. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
    10. Education and/or experience equivalent to a Masters degree preferred.
    11. PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
    12. Experience in a healthcare or education setting preferred.
